The low-cost carrier Trujet has hour-long connections between Bangalore’s Kempegowda International Airport and the Jindal Vijaynagar Airport in Vidyanagar, which is an hour’s drive from Hampi. Ude Desh ka Aam Naagrik scheme (UDAN) or Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS) aims to develop and enhance the existing operational airports and add 100 new financially-viable routes to connect underserved or unserved airports .UDAN aims to serve lesser-connected airports in tier-2 and tier-3 cities, and caps fares at Rs2,500 per hour of flight on a fixed-wing aircraft and a 30-minute flight on a helicopter. Half the tickets on one-hour flights under UDAN will have a fare cap of Rs 2,500 and the remaining can be sold at market rates. . The Central and State governments will subsidise airlines flying the UDAN routes, with the former providing the chunk; a cess on flights on major routes will fund a part of the subsidy. Besides, there will be concessions on fuel taxes, airport charges, etc. Airlines will also get three-year exclusivity on routes allocated in auctions.
