Matanga Hill in Hampi- (UNESCO Heritage Site)

Matanga Hill is considered as one of the best places to visit in Hampi. It is in the center of Hampi and the view from the top is breathtaking. The place is described in Ramayana as the hermitage of Saint Matanga.

On the top of the hill is also the Veerbhadra Temple ( associated with Lord Shiva lineage). The climb to the top can take around 30 minutes.

Located at the foot of the Matanga hill is the Achyutaraya Temple build in 1534 A.D. It is also around the Viruprakahsha Temple ( one of the oldest temples in Hampi). Just a little 5 minute hike from the side of the temple would take you to the hill climbing spot.

Get mesmerized by the mystery of the ruins from the top!!  A great place for photography enthusiasts.
